Dawsons have been involved in the Theming, Interior Design and Architecture of Sharjah Safari Park since 2018. The park covers 8km² and is the largest African Safari Park outside of Africa.

The Architecture and Theming follow a journey through Africa that showcases the different fauna and flora in the relevant ‘geographical’ context.

The 18m tall themed baobab is iconic. Dawsons were responsible for the co-ordination and supervision of this and over 72 linear km of rock and mudbank theming throughout the park.

‘Zanzibar’ is a themed village, with F&B outlets and terminal buildings. Dawsons were responsible for the design and theming of the buildings.

The ‘Boma’ is a children’s petting zoo. Dawsons were involved in the design and theming of the buildings – made to look like a traditional African village.

The toilet blocks were designed to blend into the landscape with careful colour matching to the surrounding sand colour. Dawsons developed signage which blended with the architectural aesthetics of the buildings.

The double gated buildings separate the pedestrian and animal areas. Patterns from traditional fabric were used to provide geographical context for the buildings.

Dawsons were responsible for all design aspects of the ‘Niger’ Valley – themed drive through elephant exhibit. The theming was modelled on the buildings of the Dogon Tribe in Mali. All elements were designed to withstand the occupants of the area.

Patterns were hand etched into the wet plaster by Dawsons’ team. The patterns provide a visual contrast from the painted patterns used elsewhere in the park.
